Spanish cuisine, Bar Restaurante Pinos, Benissa

If you would like to venture into the mountains and enjoy traditional Spanish cuisine, you must try the Bar Restaurante Pinos, Benissa. It is located approximately 40 minutes by car from Javea.

They offer a “set menu” price for lunch, you can choose sardines or salad to start, usually followed by a choice for main course with paella, roast chicken, rabbit in garlic, roast lamb or pork all served with chips. Everything is cooked over wooden log fires, in the traditional style and the food tastes delicious.

Additional vegetables are not usually served with the main of course, just chips. This isn’t unusual in Spain, as the first course can include a choice of salad or sardines. Or a chorizo (Spanish sausage) served on traditional freshly cooked bread, if they run out of the sardines. :) The meals we have enjoyed were plentiful, with an extremely reasonable price and very traditional cuisine, including wines and drinks and desserts.

After returning to this great little restaurant, 20 years on, which gives you the feeling that you are in the middle of nowhere, we were again not disappointed. With traditional home cooked food, generously served, in a unique setting, with excellent and friendly service, good prices, good quality food with excellent value …..This is the Spain we love.
