Benidorm

Benidorm, Spain is a town near Javea that is known for its resort hotels, a wild nightlife and many outdoor attractions. Visitors will note the tall buildings and modern skyline of Benidorm, which is different from surrounding cities old-fashioned appearance. This construction is fairly new to the town, as tourism in the 1960’s transformed Benidorm from a small fishing community into a happening tourist trap. Today, millions enjoy the town’s many attractions each year.

There are many famous resorts in Benidorm and during the summer, the town’s population reaches half a million. Skyscrapers, including the tallest building in Spain, the Hotel Bali, adorn the city’s landscape. There are three beaches that tourists flock to in Benidorm: Levante, Poniente and Mal Pas. All three of these beaches are world-renowned and recipients of the Blue Flag, an honor bestowed upon the finest beaches in the European Union. There are more than enough modern amenities for those who want a first class vacation in Benidorm.

Rather than describing the many resorts in Benidorm, one could say the city itself is one big resort. An eagle eye’s view of the town would show a long, beautiful beach with throngs of tourists lounging around. There are hundreds of hotels, bars, restaurants and nightclubs. Every night seems like a big party in Benidorm, particularly in the summer. British expatriates have been coming to the area since the 1960’s and the rest of the world is slowly catching onto this Spanish party town.

There is an attraction for every walk of life in Benidorm, from medieval shows to Las Vegas-style productions to cabarets. Pub-crawling can last all night and still not expend all avenues of public drinking. However, for all the partying that is taking place at night, Benidorm is also a great place to take the kids. The beaches and festivals are enough to keep a family busy, but what the children will really enjoy is Benidorm’s many theme parks and water parks. Aqualandia is a water park in Benidorm that features large water slides and water falls and Mundomar Marine Exotic Animal Park is similar to America’s Sea World.

It would take dozens of trips to the town of Benidorm to see all the sights, but many people won’t have the luxury of visiting it that many times. So, those that do visit are advised to spend several days there in order to absorb its surroundings. It is only a sort flight from Britain (approx. two hours), which is perfect for a large holiday or just a weekend getaway. Those who experience the bustling entertainment of Benidorm aren’t soon to forget it.
